Gorean Profile: Free Persons

Name:
Tarnay
Caste:
Scribes
Position at the Jewel:
Inn Keeper
Background:
Born the daughter of a very important and wealthy Merchant, I was taught from day one that I was privileged and of high standard. One day, father allowed me to walk among the new merchandise that had just arrived by ships at the port. That was where I spotted a Warrior wandering about the docks looking over the lowly slaves that had just arrived for market. My mouth went dry when he looked up at me..deliberately appraising me with his eyes and a smirk across his lips. Never had one made my heart flutter as he did.

Not a hand later, my father had guests at our home for a feast. I grew tired of listening to their endless talks, so I slipped out quietly and wandered about the gardens on my own and thought of the Warrior I had seen.. I must have wandered far from my home for the gardens looked different and ..there stood the Warrior I had seen . He was looking right at me. I turned about for my guard..gasping as I remembered I had slipped out without him. I turned back to look at Warrior, who suddenly was standing before me with a wicked smirk upon his face and a horrible little kolar dancing about an extended finger ..and one word on his lips .. submit.

That was the way it began many many Pahns ago. It only took a few Yhns after the one Ram of Tahari had placed that kolar about my slender neck, that he again released it and made me his woman. Together we built the Jewel of Gleaming Thassa in Port Kar, with the help of some loyal friends. Many things have changed since the beginning, but in the end it remains the same. I am still the woman of Ram of Tahari and the Jewel still holds my heart as well as the loveliest slaves in all of Port Kar.

Caste:
Warriors/Mercenaries
Position at the Jewel:
Captain of the Guards
Background:
From long ago I have wondered the planet of Gor, seeking my riches, slaves, and the opportunity to use my sword. From the first time I stepped into the Jewel of Gleaming Thassa, I have considered it my home and often find myself returning to the beauty of its walls after the Bloody Battle fields and the occasional "job". The war worn and scared features are a road map of battles and conquest of comrades won and lost to the city of Dust. Having served as Tarn Commander and as First Shield, I now enjoy freedom and trust, but above all it is Honor that drives the Spirit of the Warrior known only as Baranth.

Name:
Na'Tea
Caste:
Warriors
Position at the Jewel:
Head Mistress
Background:
I am a woman of Earth, born to a family with generations of military backgrounds. I am strong and can take care of myself. I was stolen by Gorean slavers one night while I was jogging in the park. He appeared out of nowhere..a man like I have never seen before. I looked up at him feeling very small. I was frozen just staring at him, when I felt a prick in my arm..I turn swiftly to encounter whatever it was that bit me and saw another male and then I fell silent.

I woke to find myself in a cage, bars all around me and a small blanket covering my naked flesh. I was worked, I was trained, I learned to dance, and I was beaten when not pleasing. I learned quickly how to be a pleasing slave &and then I was sold.

I was taken to the Jewel of Gleaming Thassa and was trained to be a red silk paga slave It didn t take long before I became First Girl. I trained other slaves and I danced and I served paga for many pahns. When the time came, I was sold to a strong Master. I spent a pahn with him, serving his every need, before he released me so that he could go about his travel without a cumbersome slave to deal with. I returned to the Jewel a Free Woman. Tarnay, remembering me, appointed me as Head Mistress of the Jewel and told me to deal with the slaves, and that is what I do.

Name:
Adiron
Adiron
Caste:
Warriors
Position at the Jewel:
First Sword
Background:
My First memory on Gor is of walking through a peasant field. My mind disarranged and confused. I did not know where I was, or how I got here. I remembered only that I was Adiron, a Marine of the United States of America, very strong and very proud. I did not know how I came to be in this place. It seemed like I was on another planet, even the air was different.

I literally stumbled upon a hut. I was taken in and nursed back to health. I do not remember how I came to be so ill or confused, so I will not waste time going into it, but I will say that I left in much better shape with a gift of a walking staff and more importantly the knowledge of how to use it *smiling*.

I took to a walk and found myself in Trovaldsland fighting a terrible beast they called a Kur. I remember catching a glimpse of Jarl Red Hair in that battle, one who I will see several times in my walk about Gor. My walk took me up in the Polar Basin where I learn to hunt and fish and how to make friends instead of enemies for in the North one does not need enemies the land itself is harsh enough to fight day in and day out. My walk, though not exactly planned out, found me in the drudges of Port Kar, luckily still carrying the weapons of my travels, the great Ax of Torvaldsland, a sleen harpoon and its throwing Board, and of course my walking staff. For it was here that I was to give a lesson on how to use the peasant staff to a couple of brigands. That lesson cost them a tarn whistle and a pouch of gold (not my fault they did not negotiate the price of the lesson before it was given *chuckling*). Upon receiving my payment, I left the slums of the Port and stumbled unto a less unsavory area and met upon a woman, my woman I decided right then and there. She was a healer, which was something I desperately needed at that moment. She would be most useful to me. Fortunately, the Lady Kicka took a shine to me as well.

Caste:

Position at the Jewel:
Offical Decorator of the Jewel
Background:
A free born daughter of a poor builder, I was given to a cruel but wealthy Free Man in order to satisfy the debts of my family. Upon arrival in his home, he proceeded to beat me and told me that I was to be no more to him then a mat slave. After several days of abuse, I fled in the night while he was passed out from too much paga. Finding myself alone on the dangerous streets of Port Kar I knew I had to do something to support myself. Swearing never to be enslaved or used as barter again, I earned my keep with my skills at decorating. Now, I, of the Caste of Builders, have been honored to have been offered the poste of Official Decorator of the Jewel of Gleaming Thassa.

Position at the Jewel:
Wandering Soldier from Earth
Background:
"I was a soldier, back on Earth. Part of the British Royal Anglian regiment. Paratrooper division... I was sent to the deserts of Iraq to fight, it was all part of the agreement to being a soldier; told where to go, what to kill, and given the means to do it. Simple life...

"I was still fighting in the war when our bombers targeted the wrong co-ordinates, turns out it was the patrol I was part of that they hit. I was the sole survivor. Most of my kit was destroyed, too, except for what I was wearing and what I had sheathed. Basically my knife and clothes. I had nowhere to go, then. I had to wait for the next group to find me. But while I was waiting, someone lifted me into the air... and then I was in a cage next time I woke, on Gor...

"The question as to how I became free is the real secret. All you need to know is I took the first available opportunity that I had to 'overcome' my two captors and then I ran. Until I found this place. Im not sure how, I guess I was lucky..."

Position at the Jewel:
Warrior of the Private Guards
Background:
I originally hailed from the Forests of the extreme North. I wandered for many passings of the glorious three moons of Gor before crashing my ramship into the arsenal of Port Kar. Escaping the near fatal attacks of the scoundrels at the Port...I wandered the streets of Port Kar until I came upon the paga tavern call The Jewel of Gleaming Thassa. There I found the tastiest of slaves and the finest of drink. To earn my keep and pay my growing tab, I became the personal guard of the lovely Tarnay (the pay could have been better). During the time I spent in Port Kar, I competed and won the Gold Sword awarded annually for best sword skills in the land and I fought in the Tavern Wars of 02. Alas, the wanderlust over took me again and after traveling by foot and wagon and beast, and having wandered the Deserts and Wastelands of the South, I once again found myself drawn back to the Jewel and the beauty within and of course the thrilling dangers of Port Kar.

Background:
I came from CORCYRUS. When it was ruled by a Woman I got My chance to win my freedom from the red silks and study under an elderly wise man, a physician. I was like a daughter to Him as his had been captured. I took my chance and gathered strength from the woman that ruled and knew, there was no reason why I could not caste higher.
After learning the trade and the wise man perished, I gathered all his belongings and ventured forth where no one knew me. I came to Port Kar, where the Healer is needed most.

Once committed to fight, cut. Everything else is secondary. Cut. That is your duty, your purpose, your hunger. There is no rule more important, no commitment that overrides that one. Cut. The lines are a portrayal of the dance. Cut from the void, not from bewilderment. Cut the enemy as quickly and directly as possible. Cut with certainty. Cut decisively, resoluetly Cut into his strength. Flow through the gaps in his gaurd. Cut him. Cut him down utterly. Don't allow him a breath. Crush him. Cut him without mercy to the depths of his spirit. It is the balance of life: death. It is the dance with death.

Tinsel
Caste:

Position at the Jewel:
Official Tavern Healer
Background:
The product of a Free Companionship of a Healer of Port Cos and His freed slave from Urth, I was raised a dutiful daughter of the house to Free Companion into another house of Healers. The Healer, an older man, quickly gave to me two children in a span of several years. I happily lost my two bracelets, with each birth, lost in the wonder of each child we had made together.

Then, out of nowhere disaster struck in two strong ill-fated attacks. First, My Free Companion was slain during a visit to one of His patients who resided outside of Port Cos. At that time, it was decided the children and I would return to stay with His aged parents in nearby Turmus. There for a year we stayed trying to find a new life. It was time then to start the training of two young healers and they took ship to my father's home to be placed into apprenticeship of the caste. But again ill fortune raised its head and my sons were lost in a sailing accident on their way to Port Cos.

I spent two years buried in grief for them ending to Mertal's parents and learning the first of my lessons now as a Healer, time wearing slowly at the mountains of my sorrows. Finally, word came from my father to return to Port Cos. He took my training in hand where Mertal's father had stopped and then passed my training to others of the caste in the Port.

Just recently word had come to my father, his brother's widow was in need of a healer in Port Kar. At first, a bit dubiously, I entered on the journey, not sure what fate was in store, nor what manner of maladies smote my kinswoman's door. After several months, I found a familiar routine in the chores of directing the household as well as tending to Jaclina's slowly deteriorating condition. Chancing upon the Jewel one day on the way to the market, I found myself stopping more and more frequently.

Searching my heart I found that I had finally come home. This encouraged me to take the last step and accept Port Kar and the Jewel as my Home stone and I gladly swore to the service with honor, duty, loyalty and respect. In my own way, I will serve with my own weapons against the illness and injuries that would plague or hinder those of the Jewel and Port Kar.
