When it comes to using textiles, don’t limit yourself to curtains and upholstery: Your most beloved fabric can make a fabulous wallcovering—when properly paperbacked, that is. Designer Ashley Whittaker pulled that pro trick from her toolkit when embarking on the revamp of her former childhood bedroom at her mother’s house in Gulf Stream, Florida. With the goal of bringing the lush outdoors in, she chose a favorite Schumacher printed fabric, Sea Grapes, as the backdrop; on walls and roman shades, it creates a nearly seamless effect.
Watch the video to find out how Whittaker went about transforming the textile into a wall treatment, from prep to application to upkeep. It’s a surprisingly easy way to add depth and texture to any space!
